What is BBBEE?
It is an acronym for Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment. BEE: Black Economic Empowerment is synonymous with BBBEE.

What is a Sworn BBBEE Affidavit?
It is a legitimate declaration by the business owner to demonstrate your company or business BBBEE Status. BBBEE Affidavit or Bee Affidavit: An affidavit is statement of facts which is sworn to (or affirmed) before an officer who has authority to administer an oath (e.g. a notary public). The person making the signed statement (affidavit) takes an oath that the contents are, to the best of their knowledge, true.

Why is it a legitimate that one could demonstrate their entity’s BBBEE status by way of an affidavit?
Because it has been legislated and gazetted into law on the 11th October 2013 as per Government Gazette Number 36928 which is downloadable from our website.

What is an EME?
An entity which is an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) with an annual turnover, equal to or less than R10 million, as per the Revised Codes of Good Practice.

What are the “BEE Codes”?
The Codes: BBBEE Codes of Good Practice issued by the DTI under the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act 53, of 2003.

What is a BEE Score?
BEE Score: Black economic empowerment score of a business entity as measured detailed presentation of the BEE Score of a Measured Entity in accordance with the Codes.

What is the Definition of Black People?
Black People “,is a generic term which means African, Coloured and Indian who are citizens of the Republic of South Africa by birth decent or who became citizens of the Republic of S..A. by naturalisation before 27 April 1994; on or after 27 April 1994 and who would have been entitled to acquire citizenship by naturalisation prior to that date.

Who is Bee Professional?
Bee Professional is the PROPRIETOR ESCADA CONSULTANTS CC. who are registered BBBEE Consultants and Human Resources Specialists and providers of BBBEE Affidavits and are 100% Black Female Owned Entity.

What is a BBBEE LEVEL of Contribution ?
LEVEL 1, 2 OR 4: Official Contributor or score towards BBBEE.

What is Procurement Recognition Level ?
Procurement Recognition: Means the percentage BEE-procurement recognition levels as determined:
(a) For the enterprises that are neither qualifying small enterprises nor exempted micro-enterprises, using statement 000
(b) For qualifying small enterprises, using statement 800; and
(c) For exempted micro enterprises, a deemed BEE procurement recognition of 100% and BEE status of level four (4) contributor under statement 800;
 
What is a QSE?
QSE; Means a qualifying small entity that qualifies for measurement under the qualifying small entity scorecard with a turnover of between R10-million and R50-million;

Why, are there 5 different categories of BBBEE affidavits and what do they represent?

* If your turnover is equal to or less than R10 Million and 100% Black Ownership it qualifies for a EME LEVEL ONE BBBEE Contributor - PLATINUM AFFIDAVIT.

* If your turnover is equal to or less than R10 Million per annum and greater than 51% Black Owned your entity qualifies as a EME LEVEL TWO Contributor BBBEE - GOLD AFFIDAVIT.

* If your turnover is equal to or less than R10 Million per annum and under the 51% Black Shareholding your entity qualifies as an EME LEVEL FOUR - SILVER AFFIDAVIT.

*  If your turnover is between R10 and R50 Million per annum and 100%, Black Owned your entity qualifies as a QSE LEVEL 1 (ONE) BBBEE Contributor this would be the PLATINUM AFFIDAVIT.

* If your turnover is between R10 and R50 Million per annum and 100%, Black Owned your entity qualifies as a QSE LEVEL 2 (TWO) this would be the GOLD AFFIDAVIT.

What are Sector Charters?
Various entities fall within different specific fields of business in the industry known as sectors e.g. retail and wholesale, engineering etc.

Which sectors are excluded from making use of the Five Affidavits that we provide and why?
If your entity falls within the following SECTORS :

- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Charter

- Property Sector Charter

- Chartered Accountancy Sector Code

- Integrated Transport Sector Codes

- Forest Sector Code

- Construction Sector Code

- Tourism Sector Code
